1. Doors to My Heart

Tulip Chowdhury

I have opened all the doors
and countless ways to my heart.
Spring, winter, summer, and fall
enter with wind and rain,
in snow and hail,
fall and foliage
and when cuckoos call.

How long do I wait
for you to find
your way to my heart
so that we unite as “Us”?

2. The Moon I Missed

I saw the moon
through the bamboo leaves
a thousand times,
saw it peek
when clouds played
hide and seek,
above the sea
as phosphorus danced in glee
on the sea waves.
But that moonlit night
when you held me in your arms
the moon, I did not see.

How can I,
when your lips
shut my eyes
and I couldn’t look
up at the sky,
not even once?

A harvest moon I missed but found my eternal spring.
