A mother’s worst fear; losing her child.

A Mother’s Tears

May 8, 2025

--

How to go to sleep knowing you might never wake up

or lose body parts in sleep when bombs and drones

hover overhead searching for victims?

How to wake up at dawn, knowing fear like sunlight

going dark forever, death hovering on the horizon?

My heart drops at the thought of mothers, who with

other family and friends cannot dream of a restful night,

a peaceful sleep.

Mother’s Day knocks on the door with flowers, cards, and gifts.

They make mothers smile, and they shed tears

at the thoughts of mothers caught in the wars around.

My deepest prayers, dear Mothers in Gaza, Palestine, Ukraine,

Sudan and other war-ridden lands.

May your days find peace,

may your children be safe and alive.

My heart cries with you.
