The soul’s journey
On a warm summer night, I stepped out in the yard to enter another world, coming alive after the sunset.
There were no streetlights; the lighted windows of neighbors were dark
and the sleeping world greeted me in the darkness.
Midnight descended and took cars and buses out of the street
and I step into the night’s magical silence.
Closed my eyes, I took deep breaths and stepped into a journey
of a different kind.
The darkness took me in its arms and raised me with the breeze as if to carry me to the bosom of the sky.
Eyes locked on the half-moon playing hide-and-seek with the passing clouds, my soul joins the game.
The soul is not caged, and I opened the doors wide, forgetting the worldly life and its endless wants.
The heart and the mind joined the soul and were not tethered to the ground; their wings open wide to freedom of a mystic kind.
Hours passed by without anyone missing me. During the daytime, I am on call 24/7.
Life is demanding, but there is emptiness beyond it all after their time.
And so, the night's darkness lights my whole being with life’s meanings beyond sight.
